How a DeepHire video interview works

The steps from opening your link to the confirmation page.

A recruiter sent you a link to a one-way video interview. You answer a few questions on video, on your own time. Nobody is on the call. The recruiter and the hiring team watch your answers later.

What you need

  • A phone, tablet, or computer with a camera and microphone
  • A quiet place with light on your face
  • About 10 to 15 minutes

No app and no account. On iPhone and iPad, use Safari. See supported browsers.

Step by step

  1. Open the link from your recruiter.
  2. Enter your name and email.
  3. Allow the camera and microphone when the browser asks.
  4. Record the practice question if you want. It is never saved or sent.
  5. Read the question, then press record. A 3-second countdown starts each answer.
  6. Watch the answer back. Press Retake to record it again, if retakes are on.
  7. Press Submit. Your answer uploads and the next question opens.

After the last answer you see Your answers are saved. You can close the page. The recruiter is told right away.

Time limits and retakes

The recruiter sets a time limit for each answer. You see it before you start, and a timer shows while you record.

Most interviews allow retakes. Nothing is sent until you press Submit, and you cannot change an answer after that.

Some questions are written

Some interviews include written or multiple-choice questions. Type your answer or pick an option. No camera needed for those.

Who watches your answers

Only the recruiter and the people they share your interview with, such as the hiring manager. Your videos are not public.

Common questions

Can I stop and finish later?

Finish in one sitting if you can. Each answer is saved when you submit it, but opening your original link again starts at question 1. If you have to stop, keep the page open, or tell your recruiter which question you reached.

Can I practice first?

Yes. Most interviews start with a practice question. The practice answer is never saved or sent.

Is there a deadline?

Your recruiter may set one. Check the email or text that had your link, or ask your recruiter.
